A Surrendered Life

Genisis 22: 2  In this verse God tells Abraham to go and offer his son Isaac as a burnt offering. We all know that the story ends by God stopping Abraham from doing the sacrifice, and provides a sheep caught by it's horns in the nearby bush, which Abraham and Isaac both sacrifice, and honour God.

This brings us to the life of Jesus who God provided as a sacrifice for the sins of the world (John 3: 16). Jesus clearly states in the scriptures that He lays down his life willingly. He says that God has given Him the power to lay down or to take His life back willingly. We can see here the power of a life that is fully surrendered to God. Christ has been exalted by God, and now sits on the right hand of God's throne. Abraham lived a life that was fully surrendered to God, and we see at the end of Abraham's life the scriptures tell us that God had blessed Abraham in everything.

Facing the Christian today are 2 important questions: Will I serve Christ, and Will I fully surrender my life to the Control and Guidance of God and His will. Throughout the Bible, we see the value and exceptional power of a surrendered life. Sadly, many christians are only willing to live a partially surrendered life. We always want the full blessing, but what about the full surrender? We only end up with the partial blessing, because we are partially surrendered.

Jesus said that unless a seed falls into the ground and dies, it cannot bear fruit. For us to lay up for ourselves an eternal blessing, we would be wise to consider the value of a fully surrendered life to God.
